I want to install large scale wind generation, but can't afford the £million capital budget - is there any alternative ways of funding these projects?
A scheme now exists for wind turbines of up to 5 MegaWatt capacity to be provided to clients at NO capital cost, which will provide electricty a reduced rates per kiloWatt hour. These projects, which are typically valued at more than £1million are partly funded by the energy generated, and partly from sale of ROCs (Renewables Obligation Certificates). Obviously, not all sites are suitable and quite a detailed assessment needs to be undertaken, but for sites with significant energy consumption, which are at least 500 metres from housing, and away from overhead power cables, it may be worth considering.
