Who is responsible for the cost of a water leak on my property?

If a leak occurs on your side of the water company's meter then you are responsible for finding the leak, paying for the repair and paying for any wasted water. However, Severn Trent and Anglian Water will often allow you to claim back the cost of some of the wastage if it occurred during the current financial year. However, the mechanism for reclaiming these costs is tortuous to say the least and should not be undertaken by the faint-hearted!
