Is it worth switching off PC monitors at night and at weekends?
Leaving a single PC monitor on all night wastes 350 kilowatts of electricity a year, at a cost of about £28. Not a lot you might think, but multiply this by a few hundred in a large office building and that soon becomes £5,500. Additionally, if the monitors are in an air conditioned office it's even worse, because they are adding to the required cooling load and wasting even more electricity - please, switch it off completely (standby is nearly as bad as leaving the monitor on fully).
