Is it expensive to use mobile roaming to access data whilst abroad?

If you are planning to travel abroad and thinking of using a mobile data device while away, for example a 3G laptop card or wireless PDA, check beforehand what your mobile service provider will charge you per megabyte - at least £6.50 to £10 is to be expected, which is between 10 and 20 times what you will pay in the UK, and is also unlikely to be counted in any bundled data usage that you might be paying for each month.
