Identifying leaks

How can I find out if I have a leak on my water supply?

If you think that your water usage is excessive and that you may have an underground leak between the water meter and your premises, you can isolate the building at the stop tap immediately inside the building (or wait until the site is unoccupied) and check whether the meter is still turning (but watch out for processes that may use automatic water top up). If the meter is still turning you should probably fit a data logger to the water supply to check whether the flow rate is fairly constant, as with a leak.
