The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment) is the UK's mandatory climate change and energy saving scheme, it began in April 2010 and submission of data is required by end of September 2010. Smith Bellerby Ltd are now approved Agents for this scheme.
- Organisations are eligible for CRC if they (and their subsidiaries) have at least one half-hourly electricity meter (HHM) settled on the half-hourly market.
- Organisations that consumed more than 6,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) per year of half hourly metered electricity during 2008 qualify for full participation and need to register with the Environment Agency, who is the administrator for the scheme.
- Penalties may be incurred by organisations who do not make their submissions in time.
