- I&C
- Industrial and Commercial (non-domestic sector).
- Imbalance
- Situation where there is a difference between the amount of power produced (supply) and the amount of power contracted or sold (demand).
- Imbalance cost
- The cost to the energy supplier of being in an imbalance situation.
- IMEI
- The International Mobile Equipment Identity number, or IMEI number, is unique to every GSM and UMTS mobile phone. It is usually found printed on the phone underneath the battery and can also be found by dialing the sequence *#06# into the phone.
- Interconnector
- A gas pipeline linking the UK and the Continent e.g. from Bacton to Zeebrugge.
- Interruptible gas
- Gas supply that may be interrupted by Transco or the supplier to maintain the transmission/distribution system to allow supplies to firm gas consumers when there is a constraint on the system. Customers with an interruptible gas supply must have an alternative power supply should an interruption to the gas supply occur.
