EHV
Extra High Voltage
Elexon
The balancing and settlement code company that procures and provides services to administer and implement the balancing and settlement rules. Signatories to the BSC contribute to the costs of Elexon. Charges are levied to recover the costs of running Elexon.
Emission allowance
Typically, emissions reduction schemes set a cap for total emissions for each participant over a period and allocate each participant tradable units, called emissions allowances, up to the cap. Participants buy and sell emissions allowances and aat the end of the period must hold allowances or credits equal to their actual emissions to be in compliance.
Emissions cap
The limit on emissions applicable to a participant over a period of time used to allocate emissions allowances
Emissions credit
Countries and companies can earn tradable emissions credits by undertaking projects that reduce emlssions over and above what would occur in a business as usual scenario.
Emissions trading
Countries and companies can trade emissions allowances and emissions credits. Emissions trading is one of the Kyoto mechanisms for reducing emissions of greenhouse gases contributing to climate change.

Entry capacity
The quantity of gas that a shipper is entitled to put into the system at a particular input point on a day.
EPBD
The Directive on the energy performance of buildings (EPBD) is the Directive 2002/91/EC (EPBD, 2003) of the European Parliament and Council on energy efficiency of buildings.The Directive came into force on 4th January 2003 and had to be implemented by the EU Member States at the latest on 4 January 2006.
ETSI
The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is an independent, non-profit, standardization organization of the telecommunications industry (equipment makers and network operators) in Europe, with worldwide projection. ETSI has been successful in standardizing the GSM cell phone system and the TETRA professional mobile radio system.
